It’s been nice having my husband around this week. I have been so used to being alone during daytime on weekdays and having someone around is a lot better. He took off from work not to just lounge around, but to take care of the more important things. The weather here in the Big Apple has [...] Yesterday’s snow storm didn’t totally cripple the Big Apple. This proved that the city is well prepared in dealing with a treacherous situation with this magnitude. With the city’s 1,600 plows and 365 salt spreaders on hand with more than 4,000 sanitation employees working in 12-hour shifts, the parkways and streets were pretty much passable. [...] With the freezing temps here in our area, I wonder how the older people are coping. I have always said to my husband that I don’t want to stick it out here in New York once we reach retirement age. I can just imagine the cold weather exacerbating their already bad joint pains. I’m nowhere close [...] The recent typhoons: Ondoy(Ketsana) and Pepeng(Parma) that hit the Philippines recently were both devastating. As if it’s not enough, the country has been waiting and preparing for another super typhoon: Ramil (Lupit)since Saturday. It was expected to hit land the past few days, but as of the latest weather bulletin, it is now headed to [...] So far, we have been blessed with awesome summer weather here in the Big Apple. July is almost gone, and we have yet to experience a heat wave. Temps have been lingering in the low to mid 80′s and a lot of days have been in the 70′s. There were a few days here and [...] It’s raining heavily while I’m typing away(a few minutes after midnight). The rain has been a constant companion of the people of NY since Monday and I wonder when it will finally clear up. Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday and I hope by then, the weather will be a lot better. That will [...] At least for now. New York sizzled yesterday and today, with the temperature hitting the thermometer in the mid 80′s for the first time this season. Now, I can safely say, that these beautiful blooms are here to stay for everyone to enjoy including me, of course. With these beauties abound, I hope to enjoy doing [...] Heavy downpour, very gusty winds and the temperature is in the lower 40′s. A very nasty day indeed! This same condition will continue into tomorrow, and I doubt very well if these beauties will live through these string of stormy days. Our neighborhood is finally starting to look a lot like Spring with these Spring blooms [...] |
