A Visit To The Derma Is Apparent

Two days ago, I wrote about that little zit that suddenly popped up. The little thing has gotten bigger and now I’m going crazy over it. Thus, earlier today, I went for a mad dash to the mall to get that pink drying lotion(Mario Badescu) as it turned out that the spare bottle that I’ve had years ago is no longer fresh. While there, I also went to check the price of the specific SD card that my husband needs. I’m opting to just order it online though, because the price is more reasonable.

I can’t wait to see this zit disappear. If it does not start to dry up on Monday, I might as well get a Cortisone injection from my Dermatologist. I can easily get an appointment anyway, because of the availability of multiple Dermatologists in that Derma Office. Requesting to see the main-man is not necessary, as my problem is just a very minor issue.

It’s amazing how I have been dilly-dallying on making an appointment to have the sun spots on my arms checked. Little did I know that I’ll be forced to really make an appointment because of one little pimple. Long wait at this doctor’s office is common, and as much as I can prevent it I really don’t want to go. Now, I found a more urgent reason to make that appointment NOW instead of next month.

Hidden Treasure Blueberry Cake

This cake is becoming one of my favorites. I baked this same recipe awhile back, but I used strawberries instead of blueberries. The recipe is very easy to follow. I makeĀ  angel food cake from scratch, although, for convenience the recipe from Kraft indicates to peruse boxed angel food cake.

Lately, I tend to bake Angel Food cake, and a lot of the times, I just serve it as is, without any adornments. Reason being that I actually really feel that I’ve been getting a lot more heavy. I tend to gobble up bigger slices of angel food cake, though, because it is a lot lighter and has less calories than a regular sponge cake. If I don’t get myself under control, I will soon find myself getting serious in really researching about Alli reviews and other weight loss pills to get my weight in check. As you know, significant weight gain is a big NO for someone like me who is hypertensive to begin with.

For now, I will keep baking and eat my cakes too. I won’t mind sharing though.

Visible Effect

A zit!!! I have a zit! And yes, it’s just one and it is on my left cheek ( of all places). I haven’t had one in ages, and I’m not totally surprised with the sudden appearance. I’m just thankful that I’m not laden with acne despite my sleepless and worrisome nights lately.

As I briefly wrote about it on my other blog, many things have been hounding me. Health issues have been mounting on both sides of the family and it has not been that easy. I can’t seem to gather my strength to write about it in details but I hope I’ll be able to scribble my thoughts and the whole situation in the future.

In the meantime, I have to apply my pink drying lotion to hasten drying of this lone zit. It’s annoying me more than anything.

Erratic Ramil Is Headed To Taiwan

The recent typhoons: Ondoy(Ketsana) and Pepeng(Parma) that hit the Philippines recently were both devastating. As if it’s not enough, the country has been waiting and preparing for another super typhoon: Ramil (Lupit)since Saturday. It was expected to hit land the past few days, but as of the latest weather bulletin, it is now headed to Taiwan.

Residents in Northern Luzon, though, still got brunt of the typhoon’s fury via rain and gusty winds.

It is a relief to know of the recent development because the devastated regions are still far from being rehabilitated. Damage in infrastructures as well as properties are repairable and replaceable but not the loss of loved ones. One business that is booming right now, if I were to believe reports, is the auto repair industry. Auto parts as well as auto accessories are in high demand, in fact, I’ve heard of shortage of supply. The wait is long because many auto shops have now exhausted their inventory and they have to wait for imported parts.

Now that the typhoon is expected not to hit land, we can all start to breath easier but still be wary of the rain and gusty winds that is lingering in the northen part of Luzon.

Sister’s Week

Inspiring tags like this rarely come by. As another weekend is about to unfold, I want to feel more inspired and hopeful. Thanks so much Tita Beng for this awe-inspiring message. I hope you won’t mind that I’m going to break the rule, as I have stopped passing on memes many moons ago. Therefore, this tag is not going back to you but I want to let you know that you are loved …. by me :-) .

Start copying here:

Be the kind of women that when your feet hit the floor each morning,
The devil says “Oh Crap, She’s Up.”
Sister, life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Love the ones who don’t just because you can.
Believe in everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Kiss slowly. Forgive quickly.
God never said life would be easy.
He just promise it would be worth it.
Today is sister’s day.

To the cool women that have touched my life.
this is for you…..LOVE U!!!

Rules:

Tag all your sisters, mothers, daughters, aunts, girlfriends,
Including me if I am like one. If you get tag back seven times, you are loved.
Happy sister’s day! LOVE YA SISTA!!!
Girlfriend and sisters WEEK.

I Make And Keep My Doctor’s Appointments

The past few days have been tough for an allergy sufferer like me. Zyrtec, obviously, is not doing wonders. Apart from that, I also had to deal with headaches that seem to pop up towards the end of the day. I have a feeling that this is in connection with my eyes. I’m due for my annual visit to my Ophthalmologist this November, which reminds me that I also need to schedule my annual visit to the Gyno. I always make this my last visit for the year. I really don’t look forward to this appointment, but somehow, seeing those Moms with their cuteĀ  babies prepped up on their baby strollers always make me smile. To sum it all up, I still have three Doctor’s appointments to keep namely: my last for the year with my Internist (this week), the eye doctor and the gyno. Does it seem like I’m sickly?

Most of these visits are the usual annual routine check-up, except the Internist who takes care of my hypertension and of course, the breast Oncologist, who monitors the calcifications biannually. In fact, I’m even thinking of making an annual visit to the Derma to check for moles. Lately, I have noticed more and more sun spots on my arms and legs, and although, I made a mad dash to my Derma four years ago when I first noticed the sun spots, I’m thinking that it’s time to go back just to be on the safe side.

Yes, between my husband and I, I see more doctors. I have more health issues, obviously, and I hope that it will stay that way for now. Better than both being sickly, right?

Chocolate: A Sweet Vice

The end of 2009 is closing in on us. How time flies!

I just had a great time with my husband on his recent two weeks of vacation time from work. Although, we didn’t go anywhere far ( not even to one of those cheap hotels in Panama City beach Fl ), we accomplished a lot of things that needed our attention. Our big project is moving along, even if as early as now, we anticipate that our projected completion time is not achievable.

My husband is now looking forward to his last ten days of vacation time. Yes, he gets almost six weeks every year. But instead of hying off to somewhere exotic and warm when the time comes, I will be contented browsing through this book.

And of course, hopefully, I will be able to bake and create several decadent creations. I can see myself spending a couple of days experimenting and tasting these chocolate delights.

Your Baker

I sure missed baking. For the past two weeks, I did not get the chance to bake in my own kitchen. But that didn’t mean that my husband and I was going to forgo our nightly decadent nightcap especially that we were able to have it at a leisurely pace. It was hectic, yes, but we always made sure that we topped each day with something sweet.

Since the demise of our favorite Italian bakeshop (the reason why I had to foray into baking), we have been constantly in search of a good bakeshop. We have several choices but we haven’t found the ‘one’ just yet. Thus, when we needed to have sweet treats when I couldn’t bake, we just had to try from one of the bakeshops on our shortlist.

In an effort to try as much variety as we can, we opted to get these:

The verdict? Delicious! Not quite our old fave, but these slices from Your Baker were certainly good enough.
