Devastating…

Do you remember the article I wrote about a family friend who has been recently diagnosed with cancer? It’s really sad that this is another young person with two young kids, who seem to be just waiting for his time. His case has been decided by a team of physicians and declared hopeless as far as treatment of his illness is concerned. He has been discharged from the hospital, and the physicians deemed for him to just rest at home rather than go through chemotherapy.

His family is very close to mine, more so to me, because his wife was my schoolmate. I’m the godmother of their eldest child. We have spent a lot of good as well as bad times, a lot of holidays and road trips. It’s really breaking me to pieces hearing this very sad news.

You’ll never know what tomorrow brings. He was fine when I went back to the Philippines in July at my Dad’s wake and funeral. For me, this year has been remarkably good yet marred with really great losses. I’m hoping to end this year without any more bad and sad occurrences.  All I can do is hope and pray for that.

Let's Be Realistic, In-Office Relationships Exist

At one point in our career life, we have come across or heard of the complexities of office dating.Yes, there are people who have in one way or another engaged in office dating and let’s be realistic that it really does happen, because the office is where you spend a lot of your time, thus, it’s where you build your network.

Office dating though comes with a lot of rules. It’s totally different from dating someone who is not working with you. In-office relationship is harder to handle. With everyone in the office looking at your every move, it is best to come clean and come clean first with the boss. Don’t assume that you can hide it because that will never happen, no matter how much you try to cover it up. And the best thing I learned form checking out Nicole Williams’s site? Keep your lips sealed and refrain from sharing personal information with your peers and NEVER let your relationship play out over your email in the office. Need I explain why? I think you know the answer.

Am I convincing enough to be a dating guru? No, I’m not a dating guru by no means, but it’s worth to mention right here  the sound advice I learned from Nicole’s online portal. And oh by the way, you can grab a FREE copy  of Office Sex Survival Guide by signing up for the FREE  the weekly newsletter: “Works”. Sleeping In Late

My Tuesdays are one of the lighter days of my week. As a stay at home wife, I have the option to schedule  when I want to accomplish my household chores within the week ensuring that my weekends are free. The bad thing about me is that, since I can be a terrible night owl, I tend to keep sleeping the whole morning. Thus yesterday, I saw myself getting out of bed at already 1:00 p.m. Don’t you think that’s really bad? My husband keeps ringing me up, but the ringing of the phone is not enough to wake me. Now you know that no alarm clock can wake me up too. I really have difficulty getting out of bed, but once I’m up for the day, I’m up all day till I hit the bed at night.

My husband is my exact opposite, as he is very disciplined; once that music starts to play on his Bose by his side of the bed, he is up in a second, and he take naps during the course of the day when he is home. I envy him because he easily drifts to dream land no matter what time of day as long as he’s got a pillow on his head. Isn’t that amazing? That’s the reason why whenever he’s watching TV he loves to lie down on the couch too. guess what, that sound of the TV won’t deter him from napping for as long as his favorite football team is not playing.

Peepers For $8

I wear eyeglasses, you must know that by now. I still use disposable contacts sometimes, but it’s gotten to a point where the idea of inserting that piece of plastic in my eyes is no longer a welcoming thought.

With that said, granting that I wear my eyeglasses everyday, if I had only one pair that means I will be wearing that same pair for 365 days. Definitely not a great idea for someone like me. Our eye insurance coverage cover for only one free pair a year, with the option to get a designer frame and all the upgrades and pay the difference. That is not cheap! But I know I can build my eyeglass collection through ZenniOptical.com’s stylish prescription eyeglasses from $8. Imagine that, I can get a pair for $8 which means, it is really feasible to have as many eyeglasses as I want to match my every mood and outfit. The choices are vast, as they have a huge selection of frames and are available in single vision, bifocals and even progressive lenses. Not only that, you can also have tinted lenses as well as potochromic lenses.

Now, don’t think that your eyes are fooling you. I wrote $8 and that is indeed right. ZenniOptical.com can offer these low prices because they have cut off the middlemen, they virtually have no advertising budget to speak of. They sell their own manufactured frames direct to you and me, their customers. This is exactly the kind of retailer we need during this challenging economic times. As written in an article (http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/yourmoney/chi-ym-spending-0722jul22,0,2050256.story) in the Chicago Tribune, Americans spend $28.7 billion annually on vision products and services, as gathered from the Vision Council of America, and most Americans have got no clue where to source cheap eyeglasses because they don’t shop around. Price of the same eyeglasses and lenses vary from store to store. As quoted in the Chicago Tribune article, if price is paramount to you, an internet retailer such as ZenniOptical.com is the perfect source. Truly an unheard of cost pricing, but it has remarkably revolutionized the eyeglass industry.

Sweets: Staple Food For Me

If I can drastically cut out rice from my diet, cutting out sweets such as cakes and chocolates is definitely  more difficult for me to do. I have gotten to a point when I can skip any carbs such as pasta or rice but not my dessert. They are both evil, I know, if not taken in moderation, but my sweets are my only addiction aside from shopping splurges every once in a while.

Case in point, my dinner last Sunday. I had the leanest meal ever, but I finished it off with the maja blanca that I made earlier. No, I didn’t grab a big slice, but honestly speaking, after that meal, I felt very full so much like the fullness I felt when we dined out at the Japanese restaurant last Saturday. It will take a lot of effort for me to finally say no to sweets, but I honestly doubt if I can and will ever do it. I don’t cheat in between meals, but after meals sweets are almost always a tall order and I try to get a reasonable serving size as compared to what I’m used to.  It’s a struggle indeed and I’m dealing with it the best way I can.

Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Basic with Discount Coupon Code

Press Release:

Hello my name is Brett Bumeter and I write about Dragon Naturally Speaking at Softduit.com (Tip if you are looking for the details on the coupon codes scroll to the bottom of this article). I wanted to share this video with you showing a fellow blogger named Drew who is using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 for the first time. There are some interesting things that you will see in this video that I wanted to point out to help you get a sense of how Dragon NaturallySpeaking works and how it could potentially work for you.

I think it’s important to see Dragon NaturallySpeaking, when people are using it and videos definitely help show you how well the software works these days. It’s extremely fast and can help you to type at 150 words per minute. You can see this in the demonstration that Drew has created as he is basically talking at a relatively normal speed. You will notice that he tends to look with his eyes to the right and up just a little bit.

I mention this not because Drew is looking in some strange direction, but instead because Dragon NaturallySpeaking does use your brain in a slightly different way than what you may be used to. You have to think of the words you will say in your head and then speak it out loud. That’s a little different than when you think of a composition and type it out with your fingers or even more different than when you attempt to write with your hands using a pen and paper. All three activities use different sections of our brains.

There used to be a time a decade ago when using Dragon NaturallySpeaking was more difficult because it would take a significant amounts of time to train the software. These days, the software can be trained in as little as seven minutes. The out-of- the-box experience with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is flat-out amazing. That said, it will take you a little bit of time to train your brain or compose messages or articles or e-mails by speaking them out loud.

You can type 150 words a minute using Dragon NaturallySpeaking and that’s typically 2 to 3 times faster than your average person can type. 2 to 3 times faster can save you a great deal of time and a great deal of money. This can enable you to spend more time with your family or be more productive at work and get more done and possibly a promotion or raise. Possibly the biggest benefit that you can experience is just staying on top of your workload with less effort.

If you consider also that Drew is looking off to the right a little bit as he’s composing, I will share with you a hidden benefit of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. When you use Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you are not locked into a position physically, where you have to stare at your computer monitor all of the time. When you don’t have the light on your computer screen glaring in your face all the time, you experience a great deal less eye strain. The muscles in your eyes can relax more, as you look around the room and change your focal point. You would be amazed at how much extra energy this will give you as your eyes, and the muscles in your eyes don’t get worn out as fast as they would if you sit at a computer and type all day long.

We often associate sore hands and fingers and wrists with typing, but typing also creates very sore eyes and can even lead to migraine headaches. Plus, it basically just makes you tired sitting in front of your computer. Using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you can save a great deal of time and effort and keep your energy level high, because you’re not wearing out your eyes. With a wireless microphone headset like the one I’m using, you can even pace around your desk or exercise on a treadmill or bike machine while you write your emails!

Best regards,
Brett Bumeter

PS I wrote this article with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 preferred. It took me about five minutes to write the words above, which are proximally 670 in length. That’s about 130 words per minute typing, and it only took me another minute or two to edit, which is still approximately 95 words per minute with editing included!

Nine Days And Counting

It has been nine days since I started my self imposed diet and I don’t know how I am able to survive without eating rice. I’ve been successful so far, and I have already shed off 4 pounds. That is with diet restriction alone, because I have totally stopped my walking regimen. I know, it’s bad, but because I have been pre-occupied with a lot of things lately, I have totally stopped walking.

I no longer feel hunger pangs like I used to during the first 3 days. Now, I’m fine with the amount of food that I ingest daily. For dinner last night, I just ate three bean salad and a few pieces of  steamed mussels. What I observed is that, the couple of times that I ate more than I have been eating lately, I felt a little uncomfortable and full.

If I continue to do this, I know I will be back to my usual weight in no time. It’s not easy, I tell you, with all the tempting goodies in my pantry, but I am amazed how I have been able to control myself from raiding the fridge and the pantry that is still loaded with my regular stash of chocolates.

Frugal Shopper

With the holidays drawing near, do you have any qualms about spending a lot on holiday presents? It’s actually a timely question to myself considering the financial climate that we’re in nowadays. Sometimes, I’m apprehensive to splurge on anything because of the air of uncertainty looming all over. I have a lot of “what if’s” running on my head.

Having said that, I don’t want to totally cut off people on my shopping list. Moderate spending on presents is probably going to prevail. But how about that Oceanus watches that I have been thinking of getting for my husband? I know, he just got a Tag Heuer recently but I want a chronograph watch for him. I love the sporty look of Oceanus solar atomic watch. He loves watches anyway, so I know he will appreciate it. But will he also love my extravagant choice? It’s for him anyway, so I think he’ll have no qualms about it.

There’s only a few days to go, I should really get serious on my shopping list and start shopping frugally. No, if’s and buts; really, I mean “frugal shopping” should be the name of the game for this year’s holiday presents.
