Last Christmas, I did not get a chance to go and see the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center. This year, I made sure I’d get a glimpse of the gigantic tree. It was crowded yet nonetheless, I believe I got decent shots of the tree.
This year’s tree, a 72-foot tall Norway spruce is festooned with 30,000 LED lights on 5 miles of wire and topped with a massive crystal star. It was donated by a family from Hamilton, New Jersey, and the owners called it the “miracle tree.”
Since the tree lighting ceremony, this has been the crowd drawer in the city. People from all walks of life flock to take a glimpse of the tree which to date, is the 75th tree as the first official tree lighting was held in 1933.

Kikamz, tagged me and she wants me to post an on the spot shot of myself. Okay now, I cheated and didn’t follow the rules because I had requested my husband to take the shot. But no, I didn’t fix myself as this was taken make-up free, in my jammies just before our tea and cake last night.
This tag rules are:
1) Take a picture of yourself right NOW!.
2) DON’T change your clothes, DON’T fix your hair… Just take a picture.
3) Post that picture with NO editing.
4) Post these instruction with your picture.
5)Tag 10 people to do this..

See? That’s me unedited but cropped. Do you think I now need Leptovox? Yeah, I know, I have been putting on some of the weight I’ve lost hence, the rounded face but… Thanks Kikamz!

When I went to Manhattan a few days ago, I did most of my shopping at Saks. I actually made the store my last stop because after shopping, I wanted to get a glimpse of the giant Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center when the sun had already set. That is apart from the fact that Saks is my favorite department store in town, because I get the attention that I deserve there. Not that I’m seeking attention, but they simply know how to take care of their loyal patron.
As expected every year, they have the window display. I would have wanted to take shots but the line of people on queue was too long, I didn’t have the patience to wait. I snapped some photos inside and the exterior of the store so I’m posting them here.

Even with the lights though, nothing compares to the glitter of glittery Las Vegas. For the several times that I’ve been to Las Vegas, the strip does not fail to mesmerize me every time. That is why, with the possibility of a real bad winter season right here, I can’t help but check into las vegas hotel reservations. If the price is right, hying off to Vegas for a week in the winter would be great. Oh, and it’s the start of the new year, the husband will have his 5 weeks of vacation days still unused. A week in Vegas would definitely be a treat!

I’ve been preoccupied the past few days hence, the lack of updates. Monday had me tinkering around the kitchen and experimenting on different recipes. It was a tiring adventure but I was satisfied that I found out, that indeed I can make several dishes myself. Earlier that day, I also went to the supermarket to do my weekly food shopping.
I finally made it to my OB on Tuesday, with my appointment originally scheduled for 1:00 p.m. but because I woke up really early that day (there was a scheduled water outage all day in our area for repair works), I called the doctor’s office if it was possible to walk in earlier. I got the go, so off I went at 11:00 a.m. I was done by 12:30 and on my way home that was when the flakes started to fall. Yes, we had our first real snowfall last Tuesday. Another round of snow storm is predicted to hit our area on Friday, and another one on Sunday. I guess, we are due to have a real bad winter season this year.
When I got home, I wanted to continue wrapping gifts but the allure of the love seat was more inviting. I found myself pouring into my back issues of magazines and a book until I drifted. As soon as I was up, I made sure to wrap the last few presents waiting to be “dressed up.” If I only wanted to wait when I went shopping for the gifts to be wrapped by the store personnel, it would have been better. It’s good they gave me the wrapping paper, boxes, cards and ribbon. It was time consuming but sort of therapeutic.
I’m finally done with the presents, now, I can’t wait to get them out of the house. As you very well know, this is my 8th Christmas without a tree, and I don’t mind. The presents are all in the closet waiting for the perfect time to be sent out and or handed personally. Just a few days to go, and I’m glad we’re now set.

Here’s some more shots I took while walking along Fifth Avenue. I just could not help but snap away because the decors are simply amazing.

My legs are still sore from all the walking that I did. I walked miles, and I’m sure I really burned a lot of calories. If only I can do this more often, then I won’t be even considering alli. At this point in time, portion control alone is not working for me. I really need to sweat it out. But why should I sweat it out, when I know that Alli is an easier option.
Believe me, I stayed in the city till dark. I was home ahead of my husband though. I made sure to be home earlier than him because I wanted to “secure” the items I bought, away from the prying eyes of my husband as I got something for him too.
I’m just glad I’m really now done with Christmas shopping. I can just imagine the crowd in the stores this week. Now, the wrapping continues. I didn’t want to wait for the goods to be wrapped up, so I just brought home the boxes and free ribbons from the stores.

Starting my day early yesterday was imperative to accomplish what I had set out to do. I took the subway to Manhattan, no, I will never drive to go to the city more so at this time of the year. Provided there are no delays on the train, I knew I would be there in an hour. The jinx that I am, I ran into a lot of delays on the train hence I got there after an hour and 45 minutes.
The delay didn’t dampen my “shopping spirits” because as soon as I saw the shopping crowd trudging the streets of Manhattan, I was set. In as much as I shy away from big shopping crowds, every once in a while I feel good hobnobbing with a big crowd. It reminds me of home: Manila. Right at this time of the year, I can imagine the crowded malls all over the metropolis. The crowd here in NY does not even come close. If you’ll ever get the chance to visit the Philippines, you will see how the Filipinos love the malls.
I noticed this Christmas Star right by the middle of Fifth Avenue and East 57 Street. Isn’t this awesome? It’s too bad, I was there early on in the day and the picture I took can’t do justice to it’s beauty.

Good thing, I managed to grab this night shot online. Take a look.

I have more shots to share as the buildings around 5th Avenue are also clad in Christmas decors. I definitely had my share of exercise because I walked a lot yesterday. I also wanted to get digital flash memory cards. It took me a while to get to my final destination as I took “detours”. Whenever something good caught my eye on the window display, I went inside the store.
Oh, before I forget, just in case you are looking for discounted fragrances, Saks has an ongoing sale on fragrances right now. It started yesterday and it will end tomorrow. They are offering 15 % off on fragrances, but there are some exclusions. My favorite Jo Malone scent(Grapefruit) is included and I got the 4 oz. bottle of my husband’s fave Creed (Tabarome).
