It’s the first time that it happened! And I’m quite proud of myself as I found myself in the gym, four times this week at 50 minutes each of the day. And as you may have guessed it, I now have sore legs from slaving myself in the treadmill and stepper.
I’ve always did fast walking in the treadmill at a reasonable speed. As of late, I have started to run, and running in the treadmill is still a struggle for me. I have started it many weeks ago, and my legs seem to be not acclimated yet with the new speed I’m setting for myself to do. At 6 mph it is too much for this fitness enthusiast wanna-be.
While sleeping last night, I felt the soreness and I almost gave in to a dose of Aleve, but I didn’t. Thankfully, I felt fine when I woke up. Thus, I went to the gym again with my husband late this afternoon. I ensured, I skipped running though, as I wanted to give my legs a rest.
I’m beginning to like the gym more and more. I used to loathe the gym and considered it as waste of my time. Now, I think about my time spent at the gym, as a time to pamper myself. If I don’t mind standing in the kitchen for an hour and a half to bake a cake, I figured I should be able to reward myself some time in the gym.
Nothing beats the feeling after a great workout! It sort of gives me the permission to indulge in a good slice of cake ( ).

I may not have been blogging as much lately, and I felt fine with that, but there are few activities that I continue to do whether I’m feeling good or not. Of course, surfing shopping sites on the net is one. As of late, this includes looking for desktops. Not to forget my favorite past time – reading. Apart from that, my new found hobby: baking.
Even with a heavy heart (something that I have been experiencing much lately), baking has become a therapy that have helped me ease my worries and cares.
Here’s two of my creations these past two weeks:

Lemon Cake with lemon filling (pardon the decoration. I was just trying to be creative)

Strawberry Whipped Sensation (Kraft Food & Family Mag recipe)

Hypertension is one condition that beset my family. My parents as well as my grandparents battled this condition, and now, my siblings and I are all on anti-hypertensive medication.
Needless to say, we are all trying to wean ourselves from medication but none of us have been successful. When you have hypertension, you are at high risk for heart disorders.
I have been looking into chelation therapy recently, because a family friend just mentioned to me about this treatment. I need to research further, so I can make an informed decision. I’m aware, that proper diet along with a good exercise regimen are tall order. But it is always easier said than done. Take it from me. I have been wanting to eat healthier forever, but sometimes it’s hard to say no to what you are used to. Those decadent treats are very hard to resist. Add to that the fact that there is simply just not enough time in a day that will allow me to head to the gym each day.
Oral chelation, as my friend mentioned, is a good way to help the body expel toxins to encourage proper circulation which will eventually boost blood flow. And since blood carries nutrients and oxygen throughout the body, if chelation is administered, the body can then bounce back, and get rejuvenated once again paving the way for normal body function.
I think that no one will ever know the effect of a certain optional treatment until it’s tried. Should I opt for chelation, I will certainly be updating you about it.

I was summoned for jury duty one day last week. Although, I was not picked to serve on a case, it felt like I was, because I was dismissed at about 2:00 p.m. With my juror’s proof of service certificate, I happily walked out of the court house.
With husband in tow, we head out to eat and found ourselves at the original location of Junior’s Restaurant – the home to the best cheesecake here in New York. No, we did not have their cheesecake, but we indulged on their awesome burgers. The servings are large, in fact, it was way too much for me. I’m very sure that if Junoir’s ever became our hangout and dine there really frequently, because of their large servings, I’m sure that sooner than later I will really be going for the best diet pills to start my fight with the bulges.

Junior’s cheesecakes are really the best in town. I’m not really fond of cheesecake and so does my husband, but the many years of having Junior’s cheesecake once in a blue moon, I definitely know the difference in the taste of a Junior’s cheesecake from the ones that are not. They really are the best you can ever have here in New York.

It has been a long time since I last heard from a family friend. Ever since they moved to Indiana, I can count on my fingers the times that I have spoken to her on the phone.
Today, we made up for that long silence as we were on the phone for almost two hours catching up on what’s the latest in our lives. One of the many developments that I heard was about my friend’s daughter developing fondness of horses. I was not really surprised to hear about it, as the grandparents are avid horse lovers who always made sure they have adequate horse supplies for the stable of horses on their farm.
Now, my friend is not too keen on her daughter’s passion for horses, because as young as she is, she now wants to start getting horseback riding lessons. I can certainly understand her concern for her daughter’s safety. But whether parents like it or not, it is a given that they should learn to let go, for their kid’s development. Agree or disagree?

So far, we have been blessed with awesome summer weather here in the Big Apple. July is almost gone, and we have yet to experience a heat wave. Temps have been lingering in the low to mid 80′s and a lot of days have been in the 70′s. There were a few days here and there when the sun didn’t shine at all, but there have been no really ugly weather so to speak, except for that isolated storm a few weeks ago.
For the almost two weeks of my husband’s vacation days, there were only two rainy days. We couldn’t have picked a better time to start our new project which require us to be on the road.
Earlier today, this was the view from our home:

Then it slowly changed to this:

And then this:

As you may now surmise, it was rainy today. It was definitely a ‘no air conditioning needed’ day as temps rose only to high 60′s. This meant, we were stuck at home all day and the project has to be put on hold for today. Nice weather permitting, we will definitely have an early start tomorrow to continue with our pre-work for our project. When my husband goes back to work on Monday, we will only have the weekends to work on our project.

My penchant for traveling dates back during my formative years, as I grew up traveling with my parents. As I grew older, that passion was all the more strengthened as I made sure that I rewarded myself with overseas travel every year, most especially when I was already able to travel on my own and pay for my travel expenses.
What double joy it is when I got married to a man who equally loves to travel and see the world. Modesty aside, I can very well consider myself as a world traveler having been to several countries in Asia, South America, North America and Europe.
However, having visited these different countries, there is one mode of travel that my husband and I have yet to try. That is none other than going on a cruise. Although, we flew to several Caribbean destinations already, getting on one of those fun and luxurious Caribbean cruises would for sure be a nice change from the usual airport delays and the not so pleasant stuff to deal with at the airports.
My sister and her family are fond of Carnival cruises. In fact, they have been to several destinations through the years and they really love the accommodation and ultimate fun on these cruises. I must admit that my husband is a little bit leery aboard a cruise ship, but like my sister have been telling him, he is going to have a lot of fun and enjoy the luxurious accommodation and the fun activities that only cruising brings.
For our first cruise, it would be great to sail on the Carnival Miracle for an 8 day Eastern Caribbean cruise straight from New York and to sail through Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau, Bahamas. We haven’t been to Grand Turk, in Turks and Caicos, and being that it’s the first port of call, it’s going to be exciting. But nothing can beat the anticipation of being on a cruise ship, at the Carnival Miracle’s 11 story Metropolis atrium featuring a ruby red glass ceiling. Just thinking of the many big miracles that await us once on board keeps my travel planning mode on the fast lane.
