Guilt-free dessert, anyone?
Oh yes, count me in. This self-confessed sweet tooth just can’t say no to anything decadent and great tasting dessert. Since I have become a pescetarian, I have been very conscious of the foods that I indulge in (admittedly, I cheat sometimes ). Thus, when one of the major dailies featured the opening of Vegan Divas, I knew I was going to run – not walk (LOL) to their flagship bakery at the Upper East side.
As the name conjures the confections that they sell are meat and dairy-free hence, vegan. As soon as my husband and I walked through their door on a crisp September afternoon, we were greeted by courteous and friendly staff and the founder – Fernanda Capobianco (wife of the award winning pastry chef Francois Payard). The bakery’s long L-shaped countertop is covered in creamy marble with skeins of pink, and soft light emanates from emerald glass chandeliers reminiscent of the chandeliers I saw when we visited Murano, Italy.
Vegan Divas, is just that… vegan bakery goods.
Needless to say, I was like a little girl in a candy store. Husband and I tried several baked goods and they did not disappoint. Yes, they are high quality baked goods, and I don’t mind paying the hefty price to satisfy my sweet tooth. For the size of each goody, they are really pricey. But isn’t it that more often than not, we really do get what we pay for?
On my next post: Vegan Divas’s to-go baked goodies.
Note: This is not a paid post.
