Sagot’ gulaman and turon equals one satisfying snack.
I devoured both on a recent trek to a Pinoy resto on Long Island. Driving 90 miles round trip better be worth it, so I didn’t pass up the chance to have something that is a rare find.
Turon is a Philippine snack made of thinly sliced bananas, brown sugar and jackfruit rolled in a spring roll wrapper and deep fried. Sago’t gulaman on the other hand is a refreshment of tapioca pearls suspended in brown sugar water flavored with pandan leaves.
