A family friend who used to live in Texas recently moved back for good to the Philippines with her husband but left their adult children in the United States. They are not yet in their retirement years, but the husband who used to be in the oil field industry turned over the business to one of their children so he can now be hands off with the business and no longer have to worry about running the business ( personnel issues, procurement of oil field tools among others). With his health being compromised for the last two years due to stress, he deemed it best to take it slow and now live a stress free life in an area where tons of greenery exists and the only sound that they hear are the chirps from birds.
I, myself have no clue about the ins and outs in the oil field industry but I can imagine the stress associated with it just like any other highly competitive market out there. You have to be on top of the game and ensure that you have the cutting edge technology to remain in the business. Just like what our family friend always used to say when her husband was still in the thick of things, he was always on the prowl for oil field equipments and tools either to buy or rent as well as those that were up for auction.
In an industry where high commodity is involved, it pays to be on the cutting edge. There is no way to go but keep moving forward, and that can only be obtained by employing the latest technology and equipment. The need to evolve is a must.
