Between hardwood and laminate floor, I’ll choose hardwood floor hands down. But if cost and maintenance is considered, I know so well that laminate floor is a runaway winner.
Throughout our home, it’s hardwood all the way except for rooms where stone is in order, in which case, marble was our choice. I was told prior to have these materials installed that hardwood , although durable, it requires periodic maintenance even if its sealed. It’s the same thing with marble. However, at this time, I have yet to determine when a retouch or re-sealing is needed on both flooring materials. There are no visible wear and tear yet and that must be because I diligently clean the floors as per recommended care.
The beauty of laminate, however, rivals that of hardwood. In fact, manufacturers have skillfully mastered the art of making laminate materials, so much so that the naked eye can be fooled at times. I can’t even count the many times that my eyes fooled me thinking that I’m stepping on hardwood but in reality it’s laminate. Indeed, you need to have well trained eyes to distinguish laminate from hardwood.
Now, it’s just a matter of deciding where you want to spend your money on. The cost effective laminate or the more prohibitive hardwood.
