My husband always tells me – “when it’s free, it’s for me.”
I heard this famous line again very recently when we went to our nearby specialty food store and we unexpectedly came home with two packs of this decadent treat. We unknowingly purchased enough to qualify for two free packages of Buondolce.
We are both self-confessed sweets and chocolates addict, and you bet, as soon as we were done unpacking the goodies, we had to take a break, sat down and tasted the unexpected treat.
Buondolce is a soft sponge yogurt cake, with soft carrot and orange filling. Each package contains 10 individually wrapped cakes. Though it’s only 25 grams each, it is rich and satisfying enough. It comes in four flavors: milk, orange-carrot, strawberry and honey cocoa, and it is made in Italy.
Needless to say, the cake was awesome! The melding of the flavors was so good. Too bad, the two packages that we got was both orange-carrot. I would have wanted to try the honey-cocoa flavor. But hey, when it’s given for free, there is no room to demand. As they say in Italian : “grazie” would have been the only appropriate word to say.
The cakes were gone in a week. Need I say more?
