It was a dreary and rainy day when we dropped by Dublin’s Millenium Spire. The Millenium Spire is made of 390-foot-tall, stainless steel which was completed in 2003. They say that this edifice is a memorial to nothing and has no real meaning. In fact a lot of dubious Dubliners tagged it as the tallest waste of €5 million in all of Europe.
The people of Dublin coined several nicknames of this structure. Take your pick: the Stilleto in the Ghetto, the Stiffie on the Liffey, the Pole in the Hole, the Poker near the Croker (after the nearby Croke Park) and the Spike in the Dike.
