I had a long day today, and what could have been a short trip turned out to be a long one due to congestion on the parkways. The traffic here in New York is very erratic. I planned my day in such a way that I’d be on the parkways after the morning rush and be back before the afternoon rush hour, but I still found myself caught in traffic. It is during these times that I’m so thankful of the highly visible exit signs, because I had to eventually take a detour after sitting in traffic for thirty minutes in what seem to looked like a parking lot on an expressway.
But as luck would have it, I only got a few miles of reprieve. When I eventually merged back to the same expressway it was still the same parking lot. I didn’t know any better alternate route, and even with the assistance of the GPS, I was so frustrated that I finally decided to ride it out and sit in traffic for more than an hour. My total time lost was almost two hours. I can imagine the many tasks that I would have been able to accomplish had I been back here at home sooner.
Ah… New York traffic. Need I say more?
