Do you have an idea how many calories there are in one of this?
I’m curious to know because this Ensaymada Ube (sweet brioche with purple yam), made by a bakery in New Jersey quickly became my husband’s favorite. I previously wrote about finding the nearest (8 miles away – one way) Filipino retail store and we went there two weekends ago. That was the time when my husband got introduced to Ensaymada Ube. He is familiar with the regular Ensaymada and he loves them just the same. But with the addition of ube in this variant, he ate four of them in a span of two hours.
You might think that he really eats like a p**. But I tell you, I’m very envious because I don’t think he will ever need any of those diet aids, because I see no sign on his body that indicates he is gaining weight. His metabolism is not slowing down one bit so he just keeps on eating whatever he wants.
Going back to the Filipino store, yes, this one did not disappoint. It is well stocked! In fact, during weekends there are also freshly cooked hot foods to go. The only downside is the fact that the check out counter is slow, as it is not equipped with scanners yet. Now that we found this store, I can bet that we will be frequenting this place a lot. Their hot foods are awesome. In fact, we ‘cheated’ two weekends ago. We bought three days supply of Filipino dishes, which means that we didn’t eat our delivered foods on those three days.
