When Home Cooking Is Sorely Missed

It’s been pretty hectic for the past week and a half. With all the long driving and the traffic jams that beset our journeys on the road, it’s been fun so far. A few more days to go and my husband will be back to work.

No, we’re not on the roads for joy rides or any kind of vacation. We are starting a project which we believe  its completion will take a long time and process.

That said, it’s been that long since I last cooked in my kitchen, except for that afternoon when I baked my imperfect cake (see preceding post). We have been basically subsisting on restaurant foods. And that is from breakfast to dinner, because most days we have been going out very early.

I never thought we’d be missing my home cooked meals. Earlier today, as we were on our way out, my husband suddenly blurted that he is getting tired of the taste of resto foods already. I guess, nothing beats wholesome, made form scratch, preservative free and 100 percent freshly made dish. Apart from the fact that you more or less have an idea of how much calorie you’re ingesting based on your ingredients. Which means, you are in control, more so if you’re already taking diet pills.

This made me wonder how it is for those households where it’s totally  ‘no cooking zone.’ I’ve heard of several families who are living on take outs and restaurant foods. It must be awesome for the woman of the house, though, as she is spared from food preps and cooking as well as clean ups.
