Do you love popcorn? I sure do! In fact, for the past few months, it has become my snack of choice whenever my tummy screams for attention. I do love to get those snack size popcorn packs that I just pop in the microwave. I used to pop the bigger package and wound up eating every bit of it. That was bad, and so unhealthy. It totally defeats the purpose of grabbing popcorn as a healthier alternative to snack on.
The past two weeks though, popcorn has gained a bad reputation as far as I’m concerned. This was the reason why I had an infection on my wisdom tooth. If you happen to have your wisdom tooth intact, like me, please be more careful on noshing popcorn. Some parts of the kernel can be embedded into the gum right by the wisdom tooth. Sure there would be no way of expelling that particle out of there. When I felt some irritation on my wisdom tooth, I thought I just brushed too hard or hit the area with my toothbrush. The pain didn’t go away and the gum became swollen, no amount of Ibuprofen killed the pain and swelling. Until a week ago, on a weekend, I couldn’t bear the pain anymore, I was so concerned my face was going to blow up. My husband had to make an emergency call to our Dentist, who happened to be vacationing in Florida. Our Dentist had to call in an antibiotic prescription to our pharmacy. In three days, the swelling and pain went away. At the time of my appointment, the swelling had subsided and the area was totally pain free. I have already completed my antibiotic treatment, and as you already know, this time I was spared from tooth extraction.
As soon as I was back on track, I immediately went for a box of one of my usual snack of choice. No popcorn I guess, for a very long time.
As of press time, I am already pain free but I’m now nursing a cold. What a back to back treat! But you know what, I should be thankful that I’m just dealing with minor ailments and not anything like those life threatening conditions like mesothelioma.
