Friday went by so fast. I wanted to have an early start because I had quite a few to-do’s, and there was no way they can be moved to a later day. First off on my agenda was to get the oven going to bake my cake for the weekend. It takes a while for the cake to totally cool down so this was the best route. Get the baking done and worry about frosting later.
I managed to squeeze in a 30 minute indoor walk (via Leslie Sansone’s walk away the pounds) and my usual Friday house chores of course. As the cake was on the cooling rack, I went ahead and start to put together all the necessary documents for tax filing purposes. We have an appointment with our Accountant tomorrow, and as always, I am the one tasked to pull out all the financial docs as well as the other supporting documents. It’s never easy when tax filing season is here, as I always make sure every document is in order. We always end up spending a good number of hours with our Accountant because of the intricacies that some of the holdings/accounts bring. My husband does not want to go back and forth, so he prefers that we sit down and get it done in one sitting. Of course, my presence is not actually even needed ( I don’t even bother to understand a lot of their language i.e. capital gains/loss, etc.) as my signature is the only thing that’s needed and that’s not after everything is sorted out before it’s filed electronically. I spent a good two and a half hours going through our files. Before I knew it, it was already 5:00 p.m.
The phone rang, it was my best friend calling from California. Thank God for voicemails! I didn’t pick it up, as I was very well aware that if I answered the phone, the line would have been burned for a good two hours or more. My cake was waiting for me to be iced. But before that, I went to check our mailbox. Oh no! Another baby shower invite from a family friend living in Queens. Yes, they’re expecting another baby boy due in May and we are invited by my friend’s friend( she’s throwing the party for her) to her baby shower scheduled on March 23, 2009. I always have mixed feelings when I hear good news like this. If you are a long time reader of my sites, you must know why. But mixed feelings or whatever, I’m very happy for this addition to C’s family. I guess, a baby bedding ensemble for the crib of course, will be a perfect gift.
I went back in my kitchen and made the icing. It was almost 5:30 p.m. Where did the time go? Off I proceeded to ice the cake and rushed to get it done. You’ll see the finish product in a bit. Ciao!
