Ever since my favorite supermarket installed a lot of self service check out, I have enjoyed supermarket shopping all the more. Even if I have to bag/pack my own grocery, at least now I don’t have to give the bagger “that look” when I see that some delicate items are not being handled properly. I’m sure that I’m not the only one giving that look to the bagger when that cluster of banana and grapes are getting squeezed because the bagger just drop them on a bag with canned goods.
The barcode scanners on my neighborhood supermarket makes checking out a lot faster and fun. It’s one neat invention, I no longer have to wait long in line to check out. A lot of people though are still not comfortable using the self service check out. I have no idea why. If they try, then they will enjoy the same quick check out. The older people are hesitant to try. In fact, when I went to the supermarket yesterday one older lady approached me and asked if it was easy to navigate. I think they are apprehensive because they are afraid they may get stuck. I have to admit that I was also apprehensive the first time but as soon as I was done with my first try I found out that it was very easy and there has never been any supermarket shopping day again that I don’t use the self service check out.
