But I just recently found out I was not. I haven’t updated my blogs the past few days as I have been dealing with the pain of seeing a childhood friend slowly saying her goodbye.
She’s been battling the big C since 2001. It started as breast cancer, went on remission, metastasized to the liver and lymph nodes, then went on remission. Then two years ago, I was just in shocked to hear she had four malignant tumors in the brain. She went through gamma knife surgery; came out okay and was leading a normal life until three weeks ago when she had flu like symptoms; then stomach pains. Recent tests showed the tumors are back and had spread all over the organs and the stomach except one kidney.
I don’t know how I can even write about it. She’s at the Sloan Kettering Hospital in NYC and in a day or two she will be moved to a hospice.
It’s painful, to see a vibrant, young and brilliant woman go this way. Losing a close friend is like losing a family member. The pain is simply indescribable.
